Recipe of the Month

Caramel Corn

16 oz. brown sugar
2 sticks butter
1/2 c. light corn syrup
1/3 c. water
  • Bring to a boil and boil 5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and add 1 tsp. baking soda and 1 tsp. vanilla.  Stir till well blended.
  • Pour over roaster pan full of air-popped popcorn and cashews (optional - but totally recommended).
  • Bake 250 degrees for 1 hour - stirring every 15 minutes.  
  • When done, put on waxed paper to cool.  Store in air tight container.

National Pastry Day is celebrated each year on December 9.  Pastry is a name given to a large variety of various baked goods which are typically made up of ingredients such as flour, sugar, milk, butter, shortening, baking powder, and eggs.
